The hippie movement was dying and the first few years of the 70s still had tie dye shirts, scarves and faded jeans. However, gradually the fashion trend changed to a peasant look and women were seeing sporting skirts of different lengths and off shoulder tops or tank tops. The silk scarf came in play here were women would delicately tie them around the shoulders. However, fashion silk scarves were mostly used as head wraps like the Russian village women did.

The 60's Fashion In Silk Scarves

The 60s was the period for mini skirts and bellbottoms. The first half of the 60s was a frightening time for fashion as clothes were dull and lifeless. These clothes were mostly meant for older people and did not give the younger lot too much to choose from.

Then came the mini skirt designed by Mary Quant and women started wearing it to express their freedom. Along with the mini skirt, women and girls were seen complimenting their outfits with silk scarves, which were mostly paisley prints. In addition, small boutiques started inexpensive clothing, mostly tie-dyed attire, and this gave rise to tie-dye silk scarves.

In addition, celebrities like Jacqueline Kennedy and Grace Kelly popularized silk scarves by being seen them. Women who wanted to look sophisticated emulated these women and wore scarves to further enhance their femininity and elegance.

How To Tie a Silk Scarf

Silk scarves are wonderful, classical and elegant fashion accessories that are worn by both men and women to look and feel better

Below are the two most commonly followed ways to tie silk scarf that are suitable on any kind of attire...men and women!

    Style 1:

    1. Select a suitable square silk scarf that matches properly with your attire.

    2. Next part is to wrap the scarf around the neck. Make a loose knot on one of the ends of the scarf. Using one hand, keep this loose knot open while wrapping the scarf around the neck.

    3. Gently pass the other open end of the silk scarf through this knot using your other hand.

    4. Gently pull the open end of the scarf completely through the knot.

    5. Beauty of this knot becomes visible only when both the ends of the scarf on either side of the knot are of equal size. Just hold the ends of the scarf together and adjust accordingly so that they are almost even.

    6. Now, tighten the knot. By adding some finishing touches to the knot, you can make it look neat and nice.

    Style 2:

    1. Hold the scarf in the middle so that the ends are even.

    2. Hold both the ends of the scarf together with one hand and wrap the entire structure around the neck.

    3. This creates a loop on one side while the ends of the scarf remain loose. Now, pass the loose ends of the scarf through the loop that has been created on one side, thereby forming a knot.

    4. Now pull these ends gently downwards so that the knot tightens around the neck.

Depending on your style and preference, you can place the knot either in the front or at the side of the neck.
The choice is yours, and so is the fashion statement you want to make.
