Tie a Shawl... 4 Chic Ways To Fashion

How To Tie A Shawl! Although shawls are a necessity for women during winter season and cold environments, they are also fashionable when worn in certain ways. Shawls are the perfect accessory to enhance your look and express your unique sense of style. All you need is a little imagination and you should be able to pull off a stylish look without becoming a fashion victim.

If you are uncertain about what exactly you can do with a shawl, here are ways on how to tie a shawl:

Transforming Your Shawl into a Belt
For the traditional shawl-wearers, you probably never would have thought that you could use a shawl as a belt. Well, a shawl is actually a chic alternative over a traditional belt. Using a shawl as a belt gives a sophisticated look to your wardrobe by softening your look. The first thing you need to do to make your shawl into a belt is to gather your stole by its length and make it go through all the belt loops in your pair of pants or shorts. You have an option to tie both ends together in front or on the side. You can even make one end fall a bit longer to make a classy statement. This is one way on how to tie a shawl.

Making Your Shawl into a Two Shoulder Wrap
The two shoulder wrap is another stylish way to use shawl in an unconventional way and also a way on how to tie a shawl. It is often perfect for dresses, low cut tops, bare-shoulder and sleeveless tops. Not only does it keep your body warm but it also exudes effortless chic. All you need to do to create the two shoulder wrap look is to begin by folding your wrap into a triangle. After this, make your shawl cover both of your shoulders and finish the look by tying it in front or you could also keep it together using a shawl pin.

Turning Your Shawl into a Sarong-Styled Skirt
You probably thought silk scarves can only be used for sarongs. However, you can actually use your shawl and turn it into an elegant sarong-styled skirt. This is ideal whenever you want to go to the beach and cover your bikinis without having to wear shorts or a skirt. All you need is large sized shawl and form a triangle by folding it diagonally. Afterwards, by wrapping it around your hips making the triangular end go down the length of your leg, you will be able to knot the ends along the side of your hips. This simple yet fashionable way of wearing a shawl will definitely make a statement at the beach. This is yet another practical way you can use on how to tie a shawl.

Creating a Sultry Halter Blouse Using a Shawl
The last way on how to tie a shawl is by turning it into a halter blouse. This halter blouse can work for corporate affairs if you want to make a feminine and fashionable impression. Although this look entails a certain technique and practice to be able to create it perfectly, the outcome will surely make a statement. The first thing you need to do is tie a small knot in the center of a square wrap. You should make sure that the back of the material is tied to the knot. By placing the knot inside the fold, you will be able to fold the shawl diagonally. By wrapping the folded edge around your waist, you will be able to leave the unfolded ends to hang down and you can tie the ends at the back. Take each end and make them cover your torso and make them meet at your back. This look will allow you to exude classic fashionable chic.

Frugal Scarves and Shawls Fashion Must Haves

Fashion is still a major concern with a number of people.

Reports in the news show that consumer spending is down, the economy is in recession, and inflation is still on the rise. If you don't want to wear the same old thing, you do have options. There are a number of ways you can quickly change your look, or wardrobe, by purchasing a few scarves and shawls must have accessories. You can spend less than a few hundred dollars and look like you broke the bank.

Think Jewelry and Scarves for a Change
Jewelry can change the look of any outfit. 2009 is going to be the year of the over sized accessory, so go big. You can use big necklaces, chunky bracelets, or over sized broaches to dress up your style. You don't have to hold out for diamonds and pearls—though pearls both real and simulated are huge this year. Many looks on the runway were made up from abstract plastic accessories and metallics. Choose necklaces that go down to the naval and group numerous bracelets onto one wrist.

Belts Are Wonderful
A belt can change the look of any outfit. You can wear a belt with jeans, a skirt, or even a dress to add extra interest. Consider wearing a flashy scarf with a plain long dress for a whole new look. Make sure the scarf is long and will run down the side for an elegant look. You could also choose plastic belts with flashy large buckles. Don't be afraid to go big in this area too. Belt buckles the size of a saucer are all the rage this season. You could also choose to wear your belt askew or with the buckle on the side for a fun look. Skinny belts and wide belts are totally in at the moment. Anything adorning your waistline is sure to look on point.

Shoes Can Dress Up Any Outfit
You can find a number of the runway hits at discount rates. Choose a knock off from a celebrity to set off your outfit. Don't settle for Plain-Jane colors or traditional styles if your outfit is more subdued. Many women are using sexy boots with tights to dress up an old tunic. Stilettos and other high heels are once again in style as well. The higher, the better. You can choose from patent leather prints or even metallic shades to set off your outfit. The size of your heel can even change the look of your style. You could go with a wedge flats. When it comes to jeans, the style this year is snow boots with the bottoms tucked in.

Purses Can Change Your Look As Well
While bigger is better this year, you can choose a number of purse and bag styles. You can go with a over sized clutch or a tote to change your style. Saddlebags are still in, but the larger version is best. You will also find a number of over the shoulder bags are available this year often worn with the strap across the chest. Choose different textures to coordinate with your wardrobe as well. You can use woven fabrics with a grunge outfit or suede is once again in style with evening attire.

As you can see with a few simple purchases, you can change your look. No one will even recognize that little black dress as your new office dress. You can change daywear to night and nightwear to day with just the change of a few accessories.

Gorgeous Shawls... and Their Trends

A little history about one of the favorite fashion accessories... the shawl
Unfortunately the origin of shawls cannot be pinpointed to one culture or time period. However, it is known they've been around for many centuries. Originally, they were created to provide additional warmth for people who lived in cold areas. People of all income levels owned them. Over time, they became more and more intricate in design and quickly were considered to be precious gifts and belongings. They were collected and bought by kings and queens in many cultures. As weaving technology advanced, the designs became very intricate and many were regarded as works of art.

The origination of the term shawl is Persian. The original word, “shal”, meant a woolen garment. However, shawls do now come in a variety of fabrics and styles. Shawls were mentioned in a variety of historical documents. They were usually recorded in documents describing an emperor or king's appearance. Traditionally, both men and women wore shawls. They were originally woven as part of the wool garment weaving process of other garments. Later, new techniques were developed specifically for making shawls. There were techniques developed to weave them in a very fine, intricate manner.

As the centuries passed, shawl making moved into different cultures including China. Chinese shawls were made of silk and many other fabrics besides just wool. Traditionally, Chinese garments were woven in a variety of colors and patterns, and some were even embroidered to create specific designs. There were even pieces that were designed specifically for certain religious ceremonies. These shawls were sacred and not worn as an every day garment.

In the early 19th century, shawl creation moved into America where techniques were developed to mass-produce replica shawls. Before this time, each piece was individually woven. Every piece was unique in its own way. However, thanks to the industrial revolution, companies were able to create hundreds of identical shawls in just a few hours time. With this development, beautiful shawls were made available at affordable rates for everyone.

You can now find shawls in just about every fabric and pattern possible. Today, shawls can be found in just about every clothing store around the world. There are still specific varieties that are higher quality—and of course, higher priced. These would be shawls made of high-end materials like cashmere or silk or versions that are still completely handcrafted by skilled artisans. You can also still find one-of-a-kind silk and satin shawls in some high end collections of major designers.

Shawl trends have also evolved and changed throughout the years. In some decades, the trend points towards elegant pieces, while in recent years, they have been more popular with the young adults who want a more bohemian flair. While the prices, styles, and trends may change throughout the decades and centuries, one thing remains the same. Shawls are always in style with one group or the other. They are always a great way to show off your fashion sense and personality. Everyone should have at least a couple types in their closet. You never know when they might be just the thing you need for to finish off your outfit.

Cleaning Cashmere Shawls

One Way To Cleaning Cashmere Shawls

Among all the kinds of clothing there are, cashmere shawls are one of the few that manage to get special attention. As such, extra care must be taken when caring for these garments.

The fibers of this material are particularly delicate. In fact, they can be so fragile that even dry cleaning can damage them. Cashmere shawls should only be dry cleaned only when absolutely necessary. Prolonged or regular exposure to the chemicals used by professional cleaners can damage the material and make them feel dry and brittle. Thus, it is best if it is done as little as possible.

But what makes the situation serious enough to send the item to the dry cleaners? When the stain is too large or has seeped through the fibers, it is best to leave it to a professional. Also, if the particular garment has embellishments such as sequins and stains, invest in the services of a dry cleaner to prevent snagging and tearing.

For minor stains, cashmere shawls can be washed by hand. However, it is important to read the label carefully before taking the plunge to see if the garment is meant for dry cleaning only. If the item can be washed by hand, a solution of warm water and mild soap can be used. Separate the colored items from the ones that are not to prevent the bleeding of the dye. Bleach should never be used on this material because it is too harsh for this delicate material.

Soak the cashmere shawls in the soapy water for several minutes to loosen the grime. If needed, use a soft washcloth to gently pat the soiled areas to help remove the dirt. Never rub at a particular spot because this will only make the area noticeably worn out. Also, take care not to stretch the fabric to help it maintain its shape. Cold water can then be used to rinse out this particular material after the dirt is completely gone.

After washing, remove the excess water by gently rolling it out on large, soft towel. Never wring out the moisture because this can damage the soft fibers. Neatly hang the garment on a rack and let it air dry. If it needs to be ironed, turn it inside out and place a damp cloth over it, and use the coolest setting. Never iron over it directly because this can ruin the material.
(Please note: since every situation is different, we cannot guarantee the outcome when you clean your cashmere shawl with this method and accept no responsibility for the end result of your garment. If you have any doubt as to the outcome, we recommend you have the garment cleaned by a professional dry cleaner)

Men's Scarves, Silk Aviator Scarfs and Much More!

Discovering how men's scarves, silk aviator scarfs will enhance the look of ANY suit!

A suit is the staple of any man’s wardrobe, but the new looks are great for more than just the office. If you want to look your best in 2009, invest some money in classic, timeless suits and men's silk scarves made of quality materials and superb construction. The economic client right now may be a little bleak, but by wearing high quality men’s suits you can still look like a million bucks…and be sure you can still look good in that suit years from now!

Thank goodness it seems the fashion world is getting away from looks that are meant for men with the physique of a flagpole and returning to more classic cuts that look great on more “average” frames. Suit cuts for spring 2009 are still very tailored and slim, but they aren’t so fitted that you feel as if you can’t breathe. Look for suits with a more military cut; broad shoulders, slim waist, and slim (but not tight) pants.

Double-breasted suits are definitely in again, but not cuts that are boxy or sloppy. The slim cut that is so in for Spring 2009 is not meant to hide your body flaws, so to look best in this hot look, you’ll need to get yourself in to the gym with a quickness. They are meant to flatter the natural V shape of a man’s body, so if you are looking more like a circle, these great cuts should be motivation to get yourself in shape.

Three-piece suits were also seen in the collections of the hottest designers. This may be partly due to the resurgence of 20’s and 30’s style fashions for women also seen in Spring 2009. The modern three-piece suit has a conservative waistcoat that matches the other two pieces for a clean, sophisticated look. Look for solid three-piece suits and pinstripes.

Men’s suits for spring 2009 portray a conservative confident style. They are masculine and polished. The patterns in the materials are also staying in the conservative vein. Look for timeless hounds-tooth, herringbone, pin stripe, and small checks. The greatest thing about the suit trend this season is that the cuts and materials are so classic they make for great investment pieces that are sure to still look great for years to come.

Remember, ANY great looking suit can be given an expensive and masculine look when a contrasting colored scarf is added to the wardrobe!

Scarves & Shawls... Looking Like Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff likes scarves and shawls and is one young actress who is keeping class and style in young Hollywood.

She always looks unique yet appropriate for the occasion whether she's wearing scarves or not. Here are some recent looks she has been spotted in and how to wear them yourself. You are sure to look just as trendy and polished as the spunky young starlet. Hilary was recently photographed while dining at the hot Hollywood restaurant Katsuya.

She started her outfit with a simple little black dress. Every woman really should own one—or several. She used her accessories to make the look modern and special. Around her waist she wore a wide brown belt. Around her neck and shoulder she wore a beautifully draped scarf. You may very well already have all three of the pieces in your closet, and if you don’t—you should! Find a black dress that is simple and fits you impeccably. Purchase a wide brown belt that isn’t too fussy or ornate. Buy a quality black scarf that drapes well. Not only will you get a great look with these pieces all together, you’ll be sure to wear these pieces in other outfits all the time.

Another way to add pizzazz to a little black dress and to keep it a little more casual is to pair it with a long plaid scarf in a bright color. Not only has Ms. Duff been recently seen sporting this look but so have several other celebrities including Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift. It looks great as an accessory to be worn with the dress or as an accent for a black overcoat. Wrap the scarf around your neck loosely and let the ends hang way down for the perfect “I didn’t try too hard, yet I am still fabulous” look. Hilary was recently photographed leaving a friend’s Studio City, CA home in a look that seemed effortless yet stylish.

She paired a bright yellow button up sweater with four pockets and a black pair of leggings.. and of course the perfect fashion accessory. The look was finished by a pair of fringed suede boots and a deconstructed black purse with brown handles. Yellow is one of the hottest colors for this coming spring, and it looks great mixed with the blacks and browns. It is an everyday look that looks young, fun, and put together.

Winter Scarves and Winter Hats... The Perfect Match

Can’t afford the price of a fur coat but still want to look as fabulous? Why don’t you try scouting for a fur winter scarves and winter hats instead? Scarves have been known to be one of the most versatile fashion accessories since fashion came into being. There are some people who aren’t into this kind of accessory but when it’s this time of the year, this is one product that’s relatively easy to love.

What’s there not to love with winter scarves in the winter? It’s warm, handy, snuggly, and downright hip. Wrap it around your neck or simply let it hang over your shoulders and you’ve got yourself an accent that’s equally loaded with practicality to boot.

While scarves come in different kinds of fabric, one material that you might find irresistible during this freezing season is fur. Historically, animal fur has been used as man’s best insulator against the elements especially cold air. Velvet, silk and satin are also good fabrics but fur beats them if you want to beat the cold.

Imagine a scarf made of soft rabbit fur hugging or knotted around your neck. How about a Cashmere wool blend or woven wool mix? With a scarf like any of those wrapped around you, you won’t think twice before stepping outside. You’ll be sure that you won’t be affected by the chilly air.

If you’re one of those animal rights activists or simply one who’s easily repulsed by even the thought of animal hide hanging over your shoulders, there are faux furs that closely resemble the real thing. In fact, the technology for manufacturing faux or fake furs has become so evolved that you’ll never notice the difference. These products, which have been developed due to the rising concern for endangered animal species, can closely mimic real fur both in appearance and feel.

So if you’re in the mood for shopping for winter attire, take time to have a look at what scarves are available. Too tired to go window shopping? Try doing it in the comfort of your home by browsing the Web. Not only is this method convenient, you can even have a look at what styles are “in” nowadays. A quick scan at online catalogues and stores will surely reveal that fur is one good choice for a winter scarf. If you hate the biting cold, this is one piece of accessory that you can easily take along when outdoors and take off when indoors.

Silk Scarves Artwork

Everyone loves to wear beautiful, ornate silk scarves.
We think of them as wearable artwork, but the truth is they make beautiful art for the home as well. With a few simple tips, you can turn beautiful silk scarves into a fabulous wall hanging to give your home some added spice.

The first thing you will want to do, obviously, is to pick the perfect silk scarf for the piece. Color and pattern will play important roles in your selection. Because the piece will be seen in full and need to be seen from a distance, you should pick a scarf with highly contrasting colors and a large pattern. You may even find one with a border pattern if you want to create artwork that doesn’t need to be placed in a formal frame. Another consideration is overall size. Obviously the scarf will need to be large, but how large depends on the size of the frame (if you intend to use one) and the scale of the surrounding furnishings and room. Think about how the piece will look as an overall design rather than how pretty the pattern is close up.

Once you have purchased the perfect silk scarf, you will need to find a way to properly anchor it to the wall. One of the simplest ways is to buy a beautiful frame like you would use around any painting or print. Typically you will not want to use a mat border, but certain designs may call for one. Simply stretch the scarf over the cardboard backing on your frame. If you do not mind making the scarf permanent art, you can cut it to size and use a spray adhesive to attach it to the backing. If you do not want to frame the piece, stretch it over a simple wooden canvas frame, stapling it to the back. You may also attach it directly on a wall. Most craft stores specialty hardware just for this purpose.

The Luxury of Pashmina Shawls

Pashmina has become synonymous with every shawl, scarf or stole that is not made from wool or synthetic fibers. This can lead many people astray as they end up paying for something that is not original. I constantly endeavor to educate people about this beautiful material, which is type of wool.

A Pashmina scarf or stole helps me add that missing touch of elegance to my attire. Although I wear the scarf to feel good about, it surely helps when I am complimented by friends and acquaintances. Pashmina has become my trademark and I love the individuality and grace it lends to my outfits.

For those of you who are wondering what Pashmina is, let me explain to you. Pashmina is a type of wool that is harvested from a breed of mountain goats living in the Himalayas in India and Nepal. The goat is found at altitudes of over 10,000 meters and in order to protect itself from the icy cold, it grows an inner coat which is used to make Pashminas. Each hair from the inner coat is so fine that the diameter is around 1/6th of a human hair. The amazing thing is that Pashminas are extremely warm and comfortable.

Although the scarves and shawls have been around for thousands of years, it was only in the 1990s that Pashmina became a fashion statement. It was trendy to be seen donning one. But where my dressing is concerned, I have never bothered to follow the trends. I wear a Pashmina because I love the feel of the soft wool against my skin. It makes me feel very lady-like and genteel.

With years of experience in the fashion industry, I know that the best way to take care of your Pashmina is either to dry clean it or use cold water and baby shampoo to hand wash it. Remember, a hand washed Pashmina should never be squeezed. Instead spread it out on a flat surface and let it air dry. When I want to iron my scarves and shawls after washing them, I put a piece of paper over the scarves and shawls and run a warm iron.

Pashmina Shawls... The Many Styles and Colors

Once upon a time Pashmina shawls were nothing but simple shawls.

Today, I know from my own experience, that this is no longer the case. These shawls are necessary accessories that I have in my wardrobe to add that touch of elegance that many women keep searching for but never find.

The sheer simplicity of Pashmina shawls is what makes them so special. They mostly come in pastel shades but I do own a few that are brightly colored. I can wear these shawls in many different ways and do not have to be stuck with just one boring way. Each way that I wear my shawls is unique and it hardly takes me a few minutes to give myself an entirely new look.

I love to wear my pastel Pashmina shawls as a sash. This is my favorite way of wearing it because the elegant touch it offers my outfits, especially dresses and skirts, it something that cannot be re-created with any other accessory.

In summers or breezy autumn days, when I am outside, I get a kick from wearing my Pashmina shawls as a headscarf. It protects me from the sun and wind besides keeping my hair in place. Plus I get the benefit of looking chic without taking too much trouble!

When I want a casual look, I just take two Pashmina shawls of different complementing colors, twist them together to create a two-toned effect and just wrap it around my neck. This is the one way of tying that I keep for the cold months of winter and just love the soft and gentle touch of the shawls around my neck. It keeps me warm while enhancing my looks. It like getting two things for the price of one!

Besides these, there many other ways of wearing Pashmina shawls. I spent hours experimenting with different tying methods but just use those that enhance my looks and attire. Seeing me, even my friends and relatives have taken to Pashmina shawls; and now they cannot live without them!

Thank Them With a Company Gift

The Perfect Company Gift!

In today’s business world, a company gift is a token of your appreciation throughout the year. The popularity of business gifts is increasing every year because they are an excellent business tool to accomplish business goals like increasing sales or creating brand awareness, and of course thanking your employees for their hard work during the year.

These corporate business gifts can be used in many different ways and many are beginning to realize this. You, no doubt show your appreciation by presenting them to your clients and associates and employee during the holidays, but you can go a step further and present them whenever you want. You do not need a reason to present a client with a company business gift.

Many companies that take part in exhibitions and trade shows are now using them to attract audiences. They work like promotional gifts and are incentives to catch attention of people. Just the fact that visitors get something without having to spend a dime is an exciting prospect. They are definitely crowd pullers.

Some companies are using these gifts in marketing. These gifts are given along with a purchase and it works in two ways. The first is that the business gifts increase sales and the second part, maybe the most important, is that customers feel they have got more value for the money spent.

When selecting, think practicality. It's important to select something that can be useful for the employee for many years to come. It is only then that a customer will truly appreciate the gift. While promotional gift items tend to be the usual trinkets like pens, key chains, coffee mugs etc, company business gifts are more polished and sophisticated.

The best part about these business gifts is that you can use them across the board. You can present them to clients, media, employees or suppliers. You can present them during the holiday season or just to show your appreciation at any time of the year. They are extremely versatile and the usefulness of these business gifts should not be undermined or under-estimated.
