Everyone loves to wear beautiful, ornate silk scarves.
We think of them as wearable artwork, but the truth is they make beautiful art for the home as well. With a few simple tips, you can turn beautiful silk scarves into a fabulous wall hanging to give your home some added spice.

The first thing you will want to do, obviously, is to pick the perfect silk scarf for the piece. Color and pattern will play important roles in your selection. Because the piece will be seen in full and need to be seen from a distance, you should pick a scarf with highly contrasting colors and a large pattern. You may even find one with a border pattern if you want to create artwork that doesn’t need to be placed in a formal frame. Another consideration is overall size. Obviously the scarf will need to be large, but how large depends on the size of the frame (if you intend to use one) and the scale of the surrounding furnishings and room. Think about how the piece will look as an overall design rather than how pretty the pattern is close up.

Once you have purchased the perfect silk scarf, you will need to find a way to properly anchor it to the wall. One of the simplest ways is to buy a beautiful frame like you would use around any painting or print. Typically you will not want to use a mat border, but certain designs may call for one. Simply stretch the scarf over the cardboard backing on your frame. If you do not mind making the scarf permanent art, you can cut it to size and use a spray adhesive to attach it to the backing. If you do not want to frame the piece, stretch it over a simple wooden canvas frame, stapling it to the back. You may also attach it directly on a wall. Most craft stores specialty hardware just for this purpose.

Pashmina has become synonymous with every shawl, scarf or stole that is not made from wool or synthetic fibers. This can lead many people astray as they end up paying for something that is not original. I constantly endeavor to educate people about this beautiful material, which is type of wool.

A Pashmina scarf or stole helps me add that missing touch of elegance to my attire. Although I wear the scarf to feel good about, it surely helps when I am complimented by friends and acquaintances. Pashmina has become my trademark and I love the individuality and grace it lends to my outfits.

For those of you who are wondering what Pashmina is, let me explain to you. Pashmina is a type of wool that is harvested from a breed of mountain goats living in the Himalayas in India and Nepal. The goat is found at altitudes of over 10,000 meters and in order to protect itself from the icy cold, it grows an inner coat which is used to make Pashminas. Each hair from the inner coat is so fine that the diameter is around 1/6th of a human hair. The amazing thing is that Pashminas are extremely warm and comfortable.

Although the scarves and shawls have been around for thousands of years, it was only in the 1990s that Pashmina became a fashion statement. It was trendy to be seen donning one. But where my dressing is concerned, I have never bothered to follow the trends. I wear a Pashmina because I love the feel of the soft wool against my skin. It makes me feel very lady-like and genteel.

With years of experience in the fashion industry, I know that the best way to take care of your Pashmina is either to dry clean it or use cold water and baby shampoo to hand wash it. Remember, a hand washed Pashmina should never be squeezed. Instead spread it out on a flat surface and let it air dry. When I want to iron my scarves and shawls after washing them, I put a piece of paper over the scarves and shawls and run a warm iron.

Once upon a time Pashmina shawls were nothing but simple shawls.

Today, I know from my own experience, that this is no longer the case. These shawls are necessary accessories that I have in my wardrobe to add that touch of elegance that many women keep searching for but never find.

The sheer simplicity of Pashmina shawls is what makes them so special. They mostly come in pastel shades but I do own a few that are brightly colored. I can wear these shawls in many different ways and do not have to be stuck with just one boring way. Each way that I wear my shawls is unique and it hardly takes me a few minutes to give myself an entirely new look.

I love to wear my pastel Pashmina shawls as a sash. This is my favorite way of wearing it because the elegant touch it offers my outfits, especially dresses and skirts, it something that cannot be re-created with any other accessory.

In summers or breezy autumn days, when I am outside, I get a kick from wearing my Pashmina shawls as a headscarf. It protects me from the sun and wind besides keeping my hair in place. Plus I get the benefit of looking chic without taking too much trouble!

When I want a casual look, I just take two Pashmina shawls of different complementing colors, twist them together to create a two-toned effect and just wrap it around my neck. This is the one way of tying that I keep for the cold months of winter and just love the soft and gentle touch of the shawls around my neck. It keeps me warm while enhancing my looks. It like getting two things for the price of one!

Besides these, there many other ways of wearing Pashmina shawls. I spent hours experimenting with different tying methods but just use those that enhance my looks and attire. Seeing me, even my friends and relatives have taken to Pashmina shawls; and now they cannot live without them!

The Perfect Company Gift!

In today’s business world, a company gift is a token of your appreciation throughout the year. The popularity of business gifts is increasing every year because they are an excellent business tool to accomplish business goals like increasing sales or creating brand awareness, and of course thanking your employees for their hard work during the year.

These corporate business gifts can be used in many different ways and many are beginning to realize this. You, no doubt show your appreciation by presenting them to your clients and associates and employee during the holidays, but you can go a step further and present them whenever you want. You do not need a reason to present a client with a company business gift.

Many companies that take part in exhibitions and trade shows are now using them to attract audiences. They work like promotional gifts and are incentives to catch attention of people. Just the fact that visitors get something without having to spend a dime is an exciting prospect. They are definitely crowd pullers.

Some companies are using these gifts in marketing. These gifts are given along with a purchase and it works in two ways. The first is that the business gifts increase sales and the second part, maybe the most important, is that customers feel they have got more value for the money spent.

When selecting, think practicality. It's important to select something that can be useful for the employee for many years to come. It is only then that a customer will truly appreciate the gift. While promotional gift items tend to be the usual trinkets like pens, key chains, coffee mugs etc, company business gifts are more polished and sophisticated.

The best part about these business gifts is that you can use them across the board. You can present them to clients, media, employees or suppliers. You can present them during the holiday season or just to show your appreciation at any time of the year. They are extremely versatile and the usefulness of these business gifts should not be undermined or under-estimated.

A scarf can be described as a piece of cloth or a fabric that is worn around the head or around the neck for a variety of reasons. Different types of fabrics are used in the manufacturing process. Some of these include cotton, cashmere, pashmina, wool, fleece, fur and silk. Of all the ones that are most popular across the world are… pure silk scarves. Since the ages, silk scarves have been an inseparable part of fashion as they can be worn throughout the year and on any occasion. They have started to become particulary popular as head scarves for cancer chemotherapy patients.

Apart from making a remarkable fashion statement, these pure silk scarves are also helpful in protecting the head, hiding hair loss covering and the neck… whatever the time of year. For all the seasons, a silk scarf can turn even a plain dress into an amazing outfit. Developing the right design is the key or the starting point in the creation of any silk scarf. Next part is the selection of the raw material or the silk fabric. Silk is a natural protein fiber obtained from the cocoons made by the larvae of mulberry silkworm, also known as Bombyx mori. Depending on the quality, silk is classified into several different types. Once the raw material is selected, the design is then printed on the fabric, a process known as silk screen printing. Once the printing is done, the scarves are allowed to dry thoroughly. They are later packaged and released into the market. With the silk scarves and head scarfs becoming an important fashion accessory and requirement…fashion houses, couturiers, leather goods makers and tie manufacturers all started to design and produce their own individual collections of silk scarves. In fact, companies such as Hermes and Salvatore Ferragamo and designers such as Fendi and Marisol Deluna are some names that are internationally famous for their wide range of pure silk scarves’ collections.

However, don’t be fooled. You don’t need to purchase a two hundred dollar scarf to look and feel good. Check out www.FashionScarvesAndShawls.com today. They literally ship all over the world.

However, times have changed, what with the men’s fashion industry growing by leaps and bounds. Now men are allowed to make a fashion statement through their attire... without the complet need for functionality.

That's where the aviator scarf comes in. Keeping aside its utility as a fashion item, there are various other benefits for using these white mens silk aviator scarves. Not only women, but also men need to stay healthy and warm, don't they? Men too require protection against hostile weather conditions. Its for this very reason men's silk scarves are an excellent option as they provide warmth during the cold winter and blustery autumn. Apart from this, they also keep the wind, rain and snow from blowing down their neck. Fashion designers have now started to design and manufacture different types of men’s silk scarves.

One such variety is the white long silk scarf that can be worn by men for several reasons. Also known as the long white aviator scarf, they can be used to make a remarkable fashion statement at any occasion --for any man-- be it office wear, business, travel or any other special party. Also, a long white silk scarf makes a wonderful gift item for a man on almost any occasion.

Men’s long silk aviator scarves are also available in several different colors with delicately printed designs and patterns. The most commonly available patterns or designs are, of course the solid white, but also include geometrical shapes, floral designs, animal illustrations and abstract paintings. The elegance of the scarves is further enhanced by adding hand-stitched edges and beautiful embroidery work.

Scarves have been in vogue as glamour statements since the early 1950s and especially today at: Fashion Scarves and Shawls.com

Today, with scarves being manufactured in such a wide range of colors, fabric, textures, fashion designs, prints, patterns and add-ons (such as beads, lace, fringes, sequins, braids or tassels), the year 2008 is rightly designated as the Year of the Scarf.

You can simply wrap it round your head or around your shoulders, it does not matter because scarves are one of the most versatile fashion accessories that can add elegance, beauty and charm to just about anyone’s personality.

Although scarves add charm and elegance to your personality, you should not close your eyes and settle for just any scarf, irrespective of whether it goes with your individual style, place and the occasion or not, because this can have a damaging effect on the image that you are trying to project.

You must select silk scarves that matches your personality, accentuates your style as well as fits the place of your visit (conservative as in office, formal as in a wedding party or informal as in a shopping trip) and the occasion (wedding, evening party with family or an outing in chilly winter weather) alike.

For instance, if the weather is cold and you need some warmth, then you can simply wrap a long square pashmina or cashmere scarf over your head or around your shoulders. If it is onset of spring and summer, you can simply hang a scarf (preferably made up of a light, flowing, and airy material) freely around your neck or you can select a patterned 100 percent silk scarf that matches your outfit and drape both ends of the scarf around your neck.

Alternatively, you can also tie a long silk scarf around your hips for that chic and peppy look. You can even tie your long flowing tresses using a pretty soft texture silk scarf to make you look more feminine.

The 70s was a period for groovy scarves and head wraps. Women during that time would never be seen without fashion silk scarves in loud colors. After all, 1970s was the time for anarchy! It was a time when disco was in fashion and women were wearing maxi dresses, micro minis and midi skirts.

The hippie movement was dying and the first few years of the 70s still had tie dye shirts, scarves and faded jeans. However, gradually the fashion trend changed to a peasant look and women were seeing sporting skirts of different lengths and off shoulder tops or tank tops. The silk scarf came in play here were women would delicately tie them around the shoulders. However, fashion silk scarves were mostly used as head wraps like the Russian village women did.

The 60s was the period for mini skirts and bellbottoms. The first half of the 60s was a frightening time for fashion as clothes were dull and lifeless. These clothes were mostly meant for older people and did not give the younger lot too much to choose from.

Then came the mini skirt designed by Mary Quant and women started wearing it to express their freedom. Along with the mini skirt, women and girls were seen complimenting their outfits with silk scarves, which were mostly paisley prints. In addition, small boutiques started inexpensive clothing, mostly tie-dyed attire, and this gave rise to tie-dye silk scarves.

In addition, celebrities like Jacqueline Kennedy and Grace Kelly popularized silk scarves by being seen them. Women who wanted to look sophisticated emulated these women and wore scarves to further enhance their femininity and elegance.
